($3,000 - $6,000) Type Investigations | Type Investigations is open for pitches for 2024! They’re particularly interested in pitches on the following topics: right-wing extremism and threats to democracy; reproductive rights and gender-affirming health care; technology and its harms; climate change and environmental justice. Written features generally run between 3,000 and 5,000 words — though they do publish articles that are shorter and longer. Typical budgets range from $3,000 to $6,000 (including travel and other reporting expenses, as well as the reporting fee) and are based on the submission of a detailed reporting plan. ($400) Library of Arabic Literature | Library of Arabic Literature is looking for writers who are enthusiastic about Arabic literature to contribute to the Library of Arabic Literature blog. Blog posts should be 800-1,200 words long, written in English, and must feature at least one LAL book, preferably (but not necessarily) one published within the last two years. ($350+) TODAY | Rheana is always open to personal essay pitches for TODAY Show! She’s particularly looking for some fun and juicy relationship stories, as well as first-person bounces on pop culture news. Send pitches to [email protected]
($350+) Extra Points | Matt is open to freelance pitches for Extra Points, a newsletter about business, policy, and off-the-field stories in college sports. He is interested in reported stories, personal essays, and interviews in the “off-the-field stories in college sports” umbrella. Payment typically starts at $350 + subscriber generation bonuses for newsletters, but he is very open to renegotiating a higher rate depending on the pitch.
