1️⃣ Calls to Pitch
($1.50+ per word / $150 honorarium) Design Observer | Design Observer is seeking pitches from design practitioners and journalists on "The Design of Horror | The Horror of Design". They welcome art-eds, op-eds, criticism, reported articles, and multimedia work from professional designers and journalists exploring the intersections of horror and design. Pitch deadline is September 22, with stories to be commissioned on a rolling basis through the beginning of October. They're also accepting ongoing pitches on the perils and promise of AI, travel ethics, and future visions. They pay an honorarium of $150 for art-eds, op-eds, and essays (~800-900 words). Rates start at $1.50 a word for commissioned short pieces featuring original reporting and sourcing (typically, 500-900 words). More info in their pitch call out.
