1️⃣ Calls to Pitch
($500 - $750) Kernel Magazine | Kernel is seeking pitches for their 6th issue themed "FEED," exploring how consumption shapes our relationship to technology — what we feed upon, how it feeds upon us, and all the strange metabolic interactions in between. They want sharp, specific writing by and for technologists. They accept pitches for non-fiction essays and interviews (due February 20), and submissions for poems, short stories, and other forms of creative writing (due February 28). Kernel has increased their rates since the last issue! For nonfiction, they pay $500 for interviews, $600 for short essays/software criticism (1000-2000 words) and $750 for longer essays (3000+ words). For creative submissions (visual art, poetry, or fiction), they pay between $150 to $500 depending on the scale of the piece. Submit nonfiction pitches here and creative submissions here.
