✍️ TWJN Pro 99 | 42 WRITING GIGS

London Mag, FT, The Atlantic, Men's Health 📣 🚨 ☃️

Happy Wednesday to TWJN supporters 👋

Hello writers! How’s everyone doing today?

We had a cold front through Texas earlier this week, so it’s finally starting to get chilly down here. The perfect time for our heater to go on the fritz! Hope you all are staying warm out there and treating yourself to an occasional peppermint mocha (my fave!) ☕️

We have 42 writing opportunities this week from London Mag, Financial Times, Bolts, LA Times, The Atlantic, Men’s Health and more!

Follow us on LinkedIn & Bluesky to see opportunities shared throughout the week 🔔

If you missed the last newsletter with 45 freelance & writing opportunities, check it out here.

1️⃣ Calls to Pitch

($5,000) Toner Prizes | The Toner Prizes for Excellence in Political Reporting recognize the best U.S. national or local political reporting in any medium or on any platform—print, broadcast or online. They are now accepting entries for the 2025 Toner Prizes in both the categories of national and local political reporting. Each prize includes a $5,000 honorarium. Stories can be submitted at this link by January 20, 2025. There is no entry fee.

($800+) Bolts | Daniel Nichanian and his team over at Bolts put together a guide for how to pitch them, including the sort of stories they’re interested in, the process, and so on. They want to hear your ideas and look to work with freelancers who report on critical voting rights and criminal justice stories across the U.S. Most stories they publish involve original reporting and the default rate they offer for a story with original reporting is $800. They offer more for stories that require more time and work. Pitch guide here. Send pitches to [email protected].
