1️⃣ Calls to Pitch
($350 - $750+) The Land, Food, and Freedom Journal | This publication from Blackademics (the research arm of the National Black Food & Justice Alliance) accepts pitches on a rolling basis across four categories: Land, Food, Freedom, and Culture. They seek contributions from Black diaspora writers, artists, farmers, activists, and scholars. Content should explore Black food sovereignty, land justice, and liberation. Written submissions should be no more than 2000 words. The journal operates on an honoraria system rather than standard compensation rates. Honorariums range from $350 to $750 (plus additional compensation for longer pieces, additional research, or extensive interviews). You can view compensation breakdown in their full rate sheet. See more info on what they’re looking for in their pitch guide. Submit pitches through this submission form. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
