1️⃣ Calls to Pitch

($6,000 baseline) The Atavist Magazine | The Atavist Magazine put out a call for pitches! They’re seeking pitches for deeply reported, narrative-driven longform features ranging from 8,000 to 30,000 words. Stories can be historical or current, covering crime, science, adventure, romance, or first-person experiences. They are not looking for news dispatches, think pieces, trend pieces, profiles of well-known figures, op-eds, or anything without a clear narrative arc. No AI-assisted pitches or drafts will be considered. The baseline story fee is $6,000, with a 25% kill fee guaranteed on all assigned stories, plus quarterly royalties based on traffic. They also run a Revived series, republishing lost longform work (5,000+ words) from defunct outlets for a $2,500 fee. Anyone can pitch — early-career or seasoned, domestic or international. More details in the pitch guide. Send pitches to [email protected] and/or [email protected].
